A breathtaking HUGE antique George III 10K rose gold, seed pearl, blue and white enamel young lover's hunting in the forest mourning ring, dating to the circa 1790's and in excellent collector's condition. This incredible and enormous Georgian mourning ring looks to have been converted from a brooch and is a one off and unique piece of exceptional quality which was most likely commissioned by a lady to remember the love of her life. It shows a beautifully painted pastoral forest scene in sepia of two lovers in traditional Georgian dress as they walk through the forest with trees and bushes in the background. The young man has his hat under his arm and is holding a bow with a hunting horn slung across his shoulder as he points towards the heavens while the young woman gazes longingly at him as she grasps his arm trying to keep him on earth for a little while longer. The painting is housed under its original domed crystal glass with a wonderful triple frame consisting of white enamel then blue enamel and finally the outside frame of tightly set glowing white seed pearls-amazing! The details are fantastic where the creator has even placed tiny hand punchings on the gold work between each frame. The unmarked setting tests for rich and beautiful solid 10K rose gold and the ring has a very thick rose gold band so it can be worn securely. The ring comes in an antique leather, red velvet and white silk box. This ring would absolutely be the statement piece of your Georgian mourning jewelry collection! The ring is approximately a size 8 1/2. The ring measures approximately 1 5/8 inches x 1 1/8 inches (41mm x 29mm) across the face. The painting is about 31mm x 18mm. The ring has a total weight of approximately 19.2 grams. The ring is in excellent condition with light wear including some light scratching to the crystal. The enamel is in perfect condition and the seed pearls are well matched and are nice and bright. The box has general wear, the hinge is a little loose but it closes tightly.
